PROVIDENCE — Providence College announced that the college will offer a fully online master’s degree program in sports administration through its AACSB-accredited School of Business. The program, which will launch in the fall semester of 2025, is designed to equip emerging and mid-career professionals in sports administration with the skills to grow and lead in their field.
The program’s coursework will combine critical business principles with athletic-specific competencies, all rooted in the ethics-focused and mission-driven culture that is a hallmark of the Providence College experience. Students will obtain hands-on experience through student engagement activities in a variety of areas of business within the sports industry, as well as apply their knowledge and skills via a real-world consulting project.
“The Master of Science in sports administration brings a new chapter of growth for Providence College and the School of Business,” said Sylvia Maxfield, dean of the Providence College School of Business. “Building upon the national recognition of Providence College’s illustrious athletic programs, this new online master’s program elevates our established success in graduate business education. I am excited to launch this transformative program and provide students with a worldclass degree in sports administration rooted in Providence College tradition of a liberal arts education,” Maxfield said.
Students will complete 11 courses and 33 credit hours with two in-person events, a summer orientation and winter engagement experience. Full-time (1 year) and part-time (2 years) options are available. The priority enrollment deadline for applications is December 15, 2024. The regular deadline is February 15, 2025. Admission will be handled on a rolling basis if space is available after February and no later than April 1 of that year.
